*Q2 Event* - The Annual Fleet Cannonball Run

Gentlemen of the Fleet, it is with much delight that i finally set out the details of our main Q2 Event - The Fleet Cannonball Run.

The Date: Saturday 23rd May 2009.
The Theme: All Nine Fleet Members will drive from Edinburgh to Oban on Saturday 23rd May, starting at Cardo's Pimp Palace in sunny Leith at 9am on said date. The aim of the challenge is to get to Oban in the fastest time possible via automobilen.
The Catch!: The catch is that there will be 10 challenges on route that you must undertake or you incur a time penalty. I can reveal two of these challenges now, with more to follow when you receive your mission packs - here's a snippet.....

Challenge 2: Stop off at Ollie's in Chapelhall and pick up an item from his front garden, bring it with you to the final destination in Oban. Time pentalty for failure = 20 mins. (ie if you decide not to go to Ollie's then you will be docked 20 mins, but can you make that up on the road, i wonder? Depends what else you have to do i guess, so it's a gamble.
Challenge 6: Ensure that you bring photograph with you taken beside a Loch of your choice on route to Oban today. Time penalty for failure = 15 mins. Again, you need to decide if you can do this or take the penalty.

Trust me, there are 8 other stupid/outrageous challenges that have been devised.

The other stipulation: All Fleet Members must take a Civilian with them in their car. This is a full 18 man/woman event. The Civilian will be responsible for logging all activities and ensuring compliance with the rulebook, which will also be contained in your mission pack.

Note the Wikipedia definition of a civilian: "A civilian under international humanitarian law is a person who is not a member of his or her country's armed forces." (ie, no in da fleet!)

In Oban: It is out intention to stay overnight in Oban. If this is an issue for some Fleet members, then this can be discussed at a later date - however now that the date is known then diaries can be updated and cheeky requests to other halves can be made.

Note that this event takes place on the second of the two weekends where there is a bank holiday ;)

Excluded from the Cannonball Run: There has been some St Vinnie's chat about buying a car for a £1 and using that to carry out 'the Run'. Having come off the Shandy now, i think the practicalities of this road bearing vehicle actually making it to Oban (remember i've broken down on this road before and it wasn't fun) are nilo. So this is now outlawed (but Cardo you can try it if you like mate ;))

Oh and finally. We'll ALL be doing this in fancy dress, including civilians. So i think you should all go and find a suitable civilian who might be up for the journey!!

PS, if i don't get Blog Post of the Month for this, i don't know what i need to do :D

Q3 Event. Video Re-enactment

Gentlemen, this Q3, we will be re-enacting a Music Video. Personally, i think re-enacting the undernoted splendiferous video/song by Ok Go, is a bit too much, but i draw the line at Unchained Melody or something.

So, what's your preference? Which video do we want to reenact. And I mean seriously, we will be doing this in Q3.

PS, Hymers, you'd need to grow a beard to be the singer with the pink shirt on.

Please leave COMMENTS as to which video we should re-enact.

Thanks.

Forthcoming Event - Wednesday 21st Jan

Gentlemen, i'm just brining your attention to the fortchoming Fleet Event on Wednesday 21st Jan for those that wish to participate.

Table Tennis at Meadowbank, approx 7.30pm for 1 hour, subject to successfully booking the table when i phone on Monday.

SM c9ck has intimated his desire to play, as has GS(HD) Hymers. We require at least one more body, although the more the merrier ;)

Totally random, i know, but there you go.

1) This is a non-ponts scoring blog post, seeing as i'm wh0ring away in the 2009 league table.

2) This is a points scoring event. Senior Staff have authorised 2pts for attending and 1 bonus point for a MotM performance to be decided on the evening by a member of said Senior Staff.

Fleet Charity Event - 16 May 2009

!Radio Fleet! Launches

Okay, i should be studying, but i've just launched our own Radio Station.

You'll notice that there is a small widget added to the Blog below Fleet Chattor, called Fleet Radio (its over on the right!).

It plays as long as you are on the blog page. If you click on the small icon in the bottom right of that player you'll see it launches in separate window.

It's got anything from Monty Python to Katy Perry. Click the skip track to move to something else. Good to listen to it if you are browsing other sites and can't be bothered finding tunes.

I will shortly be allowing some Fleeters to add their recommendations to the station.

2009 - year of the Fleet. Apparently.

The AotF returns....

Lo all.

That's me back from Auz. Good times !

MotM Performance - 09/01/09

The Senior Staff have awarded Chief Engineering Officer Cardo a Discretionary Bonus Point in the 2009 League Table taking his current tally to 3 points.

This was, in the main, due to his fantastic idea which feeds into the main Q2 event, which will be announced shortly.

www.edinburghfleet.com

The new fleet website is go @ www.edinburghfleet.com.

The fleet blog has been rocking for a while, with various contributions from fleet members, that's at http://blog.edinburghfleet.com.

This blog will of course be updated as and when something non-fleet happens in my life, so to speak ;) (and assuming that i've changed the settings over so the phone blogs to the correct place!).

Nine days to reach 50 visitors

Can you believe it boys, it took nine days to reach 50 unique visitors to the new fleet website. It's not even 10% complete as well. Not that the content will differ much, it's just screeds of debauchery.

Anyway, this post doesn't count towards the league table, but i wanted to ask AotF Staj, SM c9ck and Crafty Coco to contribute some chat to the History of the Fleet section, how each of you saw the formation of the fleet in your own words.

Obviously Starj is still on deep sea patrol, but they have the net over there, surely?!? hehehehe.

EXCO Out.

PS, all those non-phone-bloggers, you can create text and photo posts easily by clicking login in the top right, entering your google account details, you all have one, and then signing in. Click on New Post to contribute something like this ;)

Fleet Website - Further Updates

There was a plethora of good suggestions made on a recent night out - the framework for which has now been added to the Fleet Website. As you can see, we've got a Hit Counter, Guestbook and League Table added for 2009 activities. I'm currently in the lead ;) I've also added in a section for Fleet Life which will take into account a lot of what has recently been suggested. Happy New Year :)
